President Erdoğan at Anıtkabir

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, after the swearing-in ceremony held at the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT), paid a visit to Anıtkabir (Atatürk’s Mausoleum).

President Erdoğan, upon his arrival at Anıtkabir, was welcomed by citizens.

Accompanied by Governor of Ankara Vasip Şahin, Presidency’s Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun, Chief of Cabinet to the President Hasan Doğan and Director of Administrative Affairs of the Presidency Metin Kıratlı, President Erdoğan proceeded to Atatürk’s tomb through the Lion Road and laid a wreath at the mausoleum in front of which they stood in homage. Afterwards, the national anthem was sung.

The President later wrote the following in the Anıtkabir Special Book at the Misak-ı Milli Tower:

“August Atatürk,

Türkiye completed yet another election process with a record turnout and in an atmosphere of a democracy festival, both of which would set an example to the entire world. Our nation, who had voted on May 14 for the 28th term members of the Parliament, showed us once again a great affection with the 52.18 per cent vote rate in the second round of the Presidential Elections. Praise be to Allah, we are happy to serve our country and august nation for another five years. We believe that the elections, during which our nation had shown their confidence in the Presidential System of Government as well, will open up the doors of a new era for our nation. We will continue to work selfless to realize our Century of Türkiye vision throughout the next five years.

We will heal the wounds of the February 6 earthquakes, the disaster of the century, as soon as possible, and provide our earthquake-victim citizens with their new homes in a short span of time. I, as the 12th President, will continue to defend our nation’s eternal brotherhood, to develop our country and to strengthen our state. May my Lord help and guide us! May you rest in peace.”
