President Erdoğan attends iftar in Istanbul

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with earthquake victims at the Traditional Grand Üsküdar Iftar event in Istanbul.

Speaking at the event, President Erdoğan said: “During the 70 days since February 6, despite the election process we have not left our brothers and sisters in the earthquake zone alone even for a moment. As a matter of fact, we are sharing iftar with our quake-victim brothers and sisters tonight. Particularly during these holy days, we have stood with our earthquake victims, who are deeply saddened by their losses, in order for them not to feel abandoned. We have endeavored to share iftar with our earthquake victims since the beginning of the Ramadan. By holding the groundbreaking ceremonies of post-earthquake houses, we have instilled hope in them in these trying days of theirs. We have strengthened their will to restart their lives. As of yesterday, together with Şanlıurfa, we have commenced the construction process of over 100,000 post-earthquake residences and village houses. Inshallah, we will by no means leave the region until we deliver a total of 650,000 houses, 319,000 of them in the first year.”
