President Erdoğan attends opening ceremony of New Zigana Tunnel

Speaking at the ceremony, President Erdoğan said: “Solely with today’s opening, we are introducing 111 projects with an investment value of approximately TL27 billion in Trabzon. Zigana Tunnel was built as the world’s third longest, and Europe’s as well as our country’s longest double-tube highway tunnel. With this tunnel located between Trabzon and Gümüşhane, we are connecting the Black Sea to Eastern and South Eastern Anatolia, and from there to Iran and the Middle East, namely the historical Silk Road. The design, project and construction of this tunnel totally belong to our engineers. Our tunnel, which has put an end to Mount Zigana’s impassability, will be one of the symbols of our region’s development in every area.”
