President Erdoğan attends Overseas Contracting Services Award Ceremony

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the Overseas Contracting Services Award Ceremony in Ankara.

Making a speech at the ceremony, President Erdoğan congratulated the contracting companies and their representatives receiving the Overseas Contracting Services Awards and noted that Türkiye takes pride in the 48 Turkish companies that are included in the list of the world’s top 250 contracting companies.

Stressing that Türkiye is also represented by seven companies in the list of the world’s top 225 international technical consultants, President Erdoğan said: “During my terms as Prime Minister and President, I have personally witnessed our companies’ works across the world and how these numbers have grown bigger and bigger. We are pleased that our companies continue to represent our country successfully even though the construction industry is among the industries that have been hit the hardest by the global economic crisis. However, I also would like to underline that our share from the international contracting revenues is not at the desired level currently despite the relatively high number of our companies. Our country’s potential, our companies’ capacity and our people’s capabilities are sufficient for us to take a way larger share form this big cake of over 420 billion dollars annually.”

“TÜRKİYE HAS MADE MAJOR INVESTMENTS IN EVERY AREA OVER THE PAST TWO DECADES”

Pointing out that the rise in material prices and labor costs due to the global crisis have given rise to some hardships, President Erdoğan stated: “In my view, the fact that developed countries’ infrastructures have proven to be insufficient and decrepit during the pandemic is a harbinger of gigantic investments to be made in the upcoming period. It is an important advantage for us that transport, housing and energy are the leading items of international infrastructure investments given our country’s experience in these areas.”

President Erdoğan continued as follows: “Having substantially renewed its infrastructure of land roads, airways and railways; having changed the face of its cities with TOKİ projects and urban transformation works; having consolidated its health system with models such as city hospitals and its education system with moves in every level of education from preschool to university; having addressed its energy needs with dams and other investments that will underpin its development, Türkiye, in short, is a country that has made major investments in every area over the past two decades. This experience we possess allows us to apply for international contracting projects in a more determined manner.”
