President Erdoğan in Qatar

 

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has arrived in Doha to attend the FIFA World Cup 2022 opening ceremony at the invitation of Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar.

President Erdoğan was welcomed at Hamad International Airport by Minister of Sports and Youth Salah bin Ghanim Al Ali of Qatar, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Qatar Mehmet Mustafa Göksu and other officials.

President Erdoğan attended a reception held as part of the opening ceremony at Al Bayt Stadium in Doha.

During the reception, President Erdoğan shook hands and conversed with President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, King Abdullah II of Jordan, Dubai Emir Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of Kuwait, and President Gianni Infantino of FIFA.

First Lady Emine Erdoğan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, Minister of Treasury and Finance Nureddin Nebati, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, and Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar are accompanying President Erdoğan in Qatar.
