President Erdoğan in TRNC

 

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has arrived in Lefkoşa, the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), to pay his first foreign visit after his re-election.

President Erdoğan was welcomed at Ercan Airport by TRNC President Ersin Tatar and his wife Sibel Tatar, TRNC Parliament Speaker Zorlu Töre, TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Türkiye’s Ambassador to the TRNC Metin Feyzioğlu and other officials.

Following the welcoming at the airport, President Erdoğan paid a visit to the Atatürk Monument in Lefkoşa and laid a wreath.

President Erdoğan later wrote the following in the special book at the monument:

“August Atatürk,

We once again stand before you to consolidate our unity and solidarity with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. We are feeling the happiness of wining the hearts of our nation once again in the elections held on May 28, 2023. As the President of Türkiye, I, along with our own citizens, have thus far served the Turkish Cypriot people, an inseparable part of the Turkish nation, with love as well. We will inshallah fulfill our responsibilities towards our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters in our new term as well. May you rest in peace.”

First Lady Emine Erdoğan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler and Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu are accompanying the President in the TRNC.
