President Erdoğan meets with NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

First Lady Emine Erdoğan and Secretary General Stoltenberg’s spouse Ingrid Schulerud were also present at the meeting.

The Russia-Ukraine war, Greece’s aggressive acts and the trilateral memorandum between Türkiye-Sweden-Finland were discussed during the meeting.

Noting that the grain corridor resumed operations as a result of Türkiye’s diplomatic traffic with Russia and Ukraine at the highest level, President Erdoğan stated that they would focus on extending the agreement in the period ahead.

President Erdoğan underscored that it was essential to return to negotiations in order to put an end to the clashes between Russia and Ukraine as soon as possible and to reach a fair solution.

Also addressing Greece’s aggressive acts, President Erdoğan said that it was not Türkiye who escalated tension in the region, and that it would be helpful to steer Greece towards acting with common sense, and dialogue.

President Erdoğan noted that the steps to be taken by Sweden and Finland would determine how fast the approval process of the Türkiye-Sweden-Finland trilateral memorandum would go and when it would be concluded.
