President Erdoğan published a video message on the occasion of Ramadan Feast

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan issued a message and congratulated citizens on Eid al-Fitr.

President Erdoğan said: “Having left behind yet another Ramadan, the beginning of which is mercy, the middle forgiveness, and the end salvation from eternal torment, we have reached the eid all together. I hope the eid may lead to peace, serenity and welfare for our country, our nation, the Islamic world and the whole humanity. I thank my Lord since he has enabled us, together with our loved ones, to reach this Eid al-Fitr as well in good health and well-being. We have met and spent Ramadan al-Sharif, the sultan of the months, with a heavy heart because of the sufferings and oppressions experienced in various parts of our kindred geography as well as in Gaza.

“WE STAND BY THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE”

Gaza has been a wound bleeding since October 7 not only in our hearts but in the conscience of the whole humanity. We have witnessed an atrocious scene where hospitals, schools, churches and mosques, which are untouchable even in wartime, have been bombarded.

33 thousand Palestinians have been martyrized and over 75 thousand brothers and sisters of ours wounded in Israel’s attacks. I wish Allah’s mercy upon all our brothers and sisters who have lost their lives, and a speedy recovery to the wounded. With the more than 45 thousand tons of relief materials we have sent to the region thus far, we as Türkiye have shown that we stand by the Palestinian people in these difficult days. Our support will inshallah continue in the future as well until the bloodshed in Gaza stops and our Palestinian brothers and sisters have a free Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East al-Quds as its capital.

“WE RAPIDLY HEAL THE WOUNDS OF THE DISASTER OF THE CENTURY”

While taking these steps in foreign policy, we never neglect the earthquake-hit region, which is our top agenda item. We rapidly heal the wounds of the disaster of the century by displaying the solidarity of the century. We have thus far completed the construction of nearly 80 thousand post-disaster houses and village homes, and delivered them to their rightful owners. We aim to increase this number to 200 thousand by the end of the year by building 15-20 thousand houses every month. In the meantime, we also work to make our cities with a high density of risky structures more resilient to earthquake. 

Also, we do not give any respite to terrorist organizations, from PKK to FETO to DAESH, that threaten the unity of our country and the peace of our people. We determinedly execute our strategy of draining the quagmire of terror at its source.

“WE WILL NOT REST UNTIL WE REALIZE OUR VISION OF THE CENTURY OF TÜRKİYE”

On the economy front, the fight against high cost of living and inflation is the issue we most diligently focus on. Allah willing, we are determined to overcome this issue, which hurts our nation as well as the entire world. Positive consequences of the economic program we have been following will be more visible as of the second half of the year. We will make use of the 4-year election-free period, which has emerged following the March 31 elections held in peace, to accomplish these goals. 

With the awareness that Türkiye is our common home and democracy our common value, we all will inshallah work harder and produce more. We will not rest or stop until we realize our vision of the Century of Türkiye. May Allah help us.

I also would like to take this opportunity to once again thank all our citizens who headed to the polls and demonstrated their will in the March 31 elections. I especially request my beloved nation, which has just come out of a highly competitive election, to turn the spiritual climate of the eid into an opportunity to get over resentments. I expect all our citizens who hit the roads for eid visits and holiday to obey traffic rules. I pray to Allah that Eid al-Fitr may bring tranquility to our hearts, prosperity to our country, and peace to all the oppressed geographies and our world. I once again salute you with affection.
