President Erdoğan spoke in the Doğanşehir district of Malatya

Speaking in the Doğanşehir district of Malatya, President Erdoğan said: “We are going through sensitive days when we pay the price of even the smallest negligence, mistake or recklessness with human lives. That’s why I would like to once again remind my citizens in the earthquake zone to stay away from damaged buildings. As the state and the nation, we are endeavoring to overcome the obstacles by displaying the solidarity of the century in the face of the disaster of the century.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Chairman Devlet Bahçeli of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and Chairman Mustafa Destici of the Grand Unity Party (BBP) inspected the ongoing relief and recovery efforts in the Doğanşehir district of Malatya.

“We as a country are going through painful days. We are faced with one of the biggest natural disasters not only in the history of our nation but probably in human history. We lost a total of 44,374 lives in 11 provinces in the February 6 earthquakes, which are described as the disaster of the century. In addition, more than 115 thousand of our citizens were rescued from the rubbles with injuries,” President Erdoğan said.

Noting that nearly 11 thousand earthquakes, small and large, took place so far in the region, where scientists say an unprecedented earthquake storm is happening, President Erdoğan said: “We are going through sensitive days when we pay the price of even the smallest negligence, mistake or recklessness with human lives. That’s why I would like to once again remind my citizens in the earthquake zone to stay away from damaged buildings. Please, refrain from any steps that would endanger your lives no matter what. As the state and the nation, we are endeavoring to overcome the obstacles by displaying the solidarity of the century in the face of the disaster of the century.”
