President Erdoğan: Togg is the shared pride of 85 million people

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of Togg Gemlik Facility.

Beginning his remarks by greeting the crowd, President Erdoğan said: “Happy 99th anniversary of our Republic! I remember with grace and gratitude our ancestors who made the Anatolian lands our homeland, the heroes of the national struggle, the founder of our Republic, Ghazi Mustafa Kemal, and all members of our Grand National Assembly.”

Stating that being a nation meant living freely in the same country, uniting differences with shared dreams, overcoming sorrows with shared joy, reaching goals with joint efforts, President Erdoğan said: “Being a nation means marching towards a shared future on the basis of all these traits. Togg is the name of the project, which allowed us to enjoy this shared dream for our country’s powerful future. With this first vehicle we rolled off the series production line, we are witnessing a 60-year-old dream come true. Therefore, we say Togg is the shared pride of Türkiye and 85 million people.”

“THIS FACILITY HERE IS THE FIRST PHOTOGRAPH OF THE CENTURY OF TÜRKİYE”

Thanking all who supported and prayed for the success of Togg, the first indigenous automobile of Türkiye, President Erdoğan said: “I thank all the political party chairmen, members of parliament, state officials and above all our esteemed citizens, who regard this to be a national matter and share our excitement here today. I wholeheartedly congratulate our technicians, engineers and workers who worked round the clock to roll Togg off the series production line. You have honored our people as well as the legacies of Nuri Demirağ, Nuri Killigil, Vecihi Hürkuş and Şakir Zümre.”

Recalling the vision for the Century of Türkiye, he shared with public yesterday in Ankara, President Erdoğan said: “This facility we inaugurate here and this vehicle we stand before are the first photograph of the Century of Türkiye. We call this product an automobile, but its producers describe it as a ‘smart device’. May the Togg Gemlik Facility, where Türkiye’s indigenous automobiles will be produced, and the smart devices we rolled off the line be auspicious to our country and our nation.”

“TOGG WILL GRACE THE ROADS ACROSS THE WORLD AS A PRESTIGIOUS TURKISH BRAND”

“We have worked day and night to compensate for century-old shortcomings in our infrastructures. We have prioritized science, technology, research and development. We have developed our industry, agriculture and exports. We have built an innovative ecosystem virtually from scratch in 20 years in Türkiye. We have increased the number of technoparks from 2 to 96, organized industrial zones from 192 to 344, employment in these zones from 415 thousand to 2.5 million,” President Erdoğan said.

Underlining that Turkish industrialists continued to export across the world while the pandemic shook the supply chains in Europe and Asia, President Erdoğan said: “Our entrepreneurial ecosystem attracted over $1.5 billion investment last year, breaking an all-time record.”

“No matter where you go in the world, you will see Turkish brands. Inshallah, Togg will grace the roads across the world as a prestigious Turkish brand in the period ahead,” President Erdoğan said.

Underlining that all the intellectual and industrial property rights of the Togg project belonged to Türkiye, and that various SMEs and suppliers across the country participated in the production, President Erdoğan said: “When the Togg Gemlik Facility reaches its full capacity, 175 thousand vehicles will be produced here every annually. 4 300 people will be employed directly and 20 thousand people indirectly. 1 million vehicles will be produced here until 2030, which will contribute over $50 billion to our national income and $7 billion to reducing our surplus deficit.”

President Erdoğan also placed an order to purchase the first-ever Togg vehicle.

“WE WILL SOON BREAK GROUND FOR BATTERY FACTORY”

With regard to the battery and charging stations, President Erdoğan said: “We have agreed with a leading company in the world to produce Togg’s lithium-ion batteries in our country. We will soon break ground for the battery factory, which will be built in the 609-thousand square meter plot right next to the Togg facility.”

“When we embarked upon this path, we said Türkiye would be the production hub of electric vehicles. Togg is the engine on this path,” President Erdoğan said. Noting that 54 companies were given license to operate vehicle-charging stations, President Erdoğan said: “Togg will open a thousand fast charging stations at over 600 points in 81 provinces under its own brand, Trugo.”

“TOGG WILL HIT THE ROAD BY THE END OF 2023'S FIRST QUARTER”

“The test and certification processes of the cars rolling off the series production line start immediately. Togg will also have the necessary technical and compliance certificates, required in European markets, since it will cruise the roads there as well. Therefore, we will, inshallah, see Togg on the road by the end of 2023's first quarter.”

Announcing that Turkish citizens would be able to pre-order Togg models near the end of February, President Erdoğan noted that the price would be announced by then.
