President Erdoğan: We have identified healthcare as one of the most ambitious areas of our Century of Türkiye
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the 8th Turkish Medical World Congress of the Organization of Turkic States and Award Ceremony of “Tribute to the History of Medicine and Common Legacy” in Istanbul.
“We are designing the Century of Türkiye, which we announced to the public a few days ago, as the vision of our common future of all our friends and brothers, the Turkic world in particular, as well as of ours,” President Erdoğan noted, and added: “We have shared dreams with our friends living all across the geography that is dear to us, from the Balkans to the heart of Central Asia, from the Black Sea to the Mediterranean and Africa. The Century of Türkiye will become a guide serving as a lighthouse for all of us at a time when the world is in search of not only economic or political pursuits, but also of the very purpose of human existence.”

Drawing attention to the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, President Erdoğan said Türkiye had delivered medical aid to 161 countries and 12 international organizations, and continued as follows: “Now a similar process is being experienced in the global production and supply chains, whose most fundamental element is the food crisis. As is known, nearly one third of the world wheat production belongs to Ukraine and Russia. You are the very witnesses of the efforts we have been exerting to deliver this wheat to countries facing hunger threat. Thanks to the joint mechanism we have built in Istanbul, we have ensured a relative reduction in the food crisis by putting the 9.3 million tons of the Ukrainian wheat at the world’s disposal. Even though Russia is hesitant on this issue since same conveniences are not provided for them, we will determinedly continue our efforts to serve the humanity.”
“89 OF EVERY 100 MEDICATIONS CONSUMED BY OUR PATIENTS ARE PRODUCED DOMESTICALLY”
“We have identified healthcare as one of the most ambitious areas of our Century of Türkiye. Our qualified labor force, which we have enriched with our city hospitals we have built with giant investments and innovative cooperation methods, plays a huge role in this success,” the President further stressed, and stated: “89 of every 100 medications consumed by our patients are produced domestically. With our domestically- and nationally-produced vaccine TURKOVAC, we have placed ourselves among the nine countries capable of producing COVID-19 vaccine in the world. Also, we maintain significant works regarding protective healthcare services and treatment in cancer, an increasing health threat.”
President Erdoğan said: “We share the opportunities emerging from the digitalization in healthcare and from the experiences in service delivery with the entire world, starting from our near environ. Our aim within the framework of the vision of the Century of Türkiye is to elevate our country to the top in healthcare services under the trademark of ‘Health Türkiye’.”
