President Erdoğan: We maintain our solidarity with the Palestinian people and our support for the Palestinian cause in the strongest manner
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine held a joint press conference following their meeting at the Presidential Complex.
Noting that the steps that would be taken to further strengthen the relations between Türkiye and Palestine were addressed during his meeting with President Abbas, President Erdoğan said he reaffirmed Türkiye’s support for the Palestinian people’s welfare and development.
“PALESTINE ALWAYS HAS A UNIQUE PLACE IN OUR PEOPLE’S HEART”
Stating that important regional issues were also on the agenda of the meeting, President Erdoğan noted: “Palestine always has a unique place in our people’s heart. We, as always, maintain our solidarity with the Palestinian people and our support for the Palestinian cause in the strongest manner.”
Having recognized the State of Palestine the moment it was declared, Türkiye advocates the two-state solution on every platform, said the President. “As you know, we have reacted against the loss of lives caused by Israel’s attacks in Gaza in an open and clear manner. We medevacked our two Palestinian kids, who got wounded in the attacks, to Türkiye last week for treatment.”
“WE BY NO MEANS ACCEPT ACTIONS AIMED AT CHANGING THE STATUS OF AL-QUDS AND AL-AQSA MOSQUE”
Wishing Allah’s mercy upon those martyrized in the attacks and recovery to the wounded, President Erdoğan offered his condolences to the relatives of martyrs, and stated: “We by no means accept actions aimed at changing the status of al-Quds and al-Aqsa Mosque. We express our sensitivities and expectations on this issue to our Israeli counterparts in the clearest and frankest manner. The steps taken in our relations with Israel will never decrease our support for the Palestinian cause. On the contrary, our Palestinian brothers also state that these steps will contribute to solving the Palestinian issue and ameliorating the Palestinian people’s situation. We also follow the efforts of achieving unity and reconciliation among our Palestinian brothers and sisters. We stand ready to provide every kind of support to that end as well.”
