“Türkiye has successfully completed yet another festival of democracy with May 14 elections”

 

Delivering remarks on the elections, President Erdoğan said: “Our country has successfully completed yet another festival of democracy with May 14 elections.”

President and Justice and Development (AK) Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a balcony speech at the party’s headquarters in Ankara.

“Our country has successfully completed yet another festival of democracy with May 14 elections,” President Erdoğan said, and added: “Although we know that we are way ahead in the elections, we are waiting for the manifestation of the national will since the official results have yet to be announced. While waiting for the results, we wanted to deliver our traditional balcony speech in advance to respond to your affection.”

“THE WINNER IS OUR COUNTRY AND OUR NATION”

“Beyond the figures and ratios to be displayed by the election tables, the winner has been our country and our nation in an indisputable manner. Türkiye, with its commitment to the rule of national will and with the freedom of its citizens in political choices, has once again proven that it is among the leading democracies in the world. We have shown this reality with the record turnout in the elections,” the President noted.

Extending his gratitude to nearly 27 million citizens who voted for him in the Presidential election regardless of the results, President Erdoğan said: “I thank each and every one of our 56 million citizens who have taken part in this democracy festival regardless of their preferences. We are already 2.6 million votes ahead of our closest rival in the elections. I believe that this number will further increase with the announcement of the official results.”

“WE WILL ENDEAVOR TO BUILD THE GREAT AND STRONG TÜRKİYE”

Noting that whether the Presidential election has been completed in the first round is not known yet due to the 50 plus 1 per cent rule in the election system, President Erdoğan stated: “If our nation’s decision shows that the Presidential election is finished, there is no problem then. But, if our nation has made their choice for a runoff, we will respect it as well. I believe that we will finish this round with a vote rate over 50 per cent.”

Further stressing that they will solely work to win the hearts of the nation in the upcoming period as well, President Erdoğan said: “We will endeavor to build the great and strong Türkiye. Rest assured that no one can stop the rise of the Century of Türkiye.”
