“Türkiye’s progress in green technologies is important in economic and strategic terms”

Making a speech at the Groundbreaking Ceremony of SIRO Battery Development and Production Facility, President Erdoğan said: “Türkiye’s progress in green technologies is important not only in terms of environment but also in economic and strategic terms. Investments particularly in battery technologies have the potential to change Türkiye’s global status.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the Groundbreaking Ceremony of SIRO Battery Development and Production Facility in Gemlik, Bursa.

Likening the previous week to a time of harvest in terms of the Century of Türkiye vision as well as the National Technology Initiative, President Erdoğan recalled that the production facility that would increase the added value of the country’s boron reserves 300-fold had been put into service, the IMECE satellite, which would serve as the country’s eye in the space, had been launched, and the TUBITAK Vaccine and Medicine Development Center had officially been opened.

“TCG ANADOLU IS THE FIRST-EVER UCAV CARRIER IN THE WORLD”

“We successfully performed the first-movement test of our country’s domestically-produced electric locomotive E-5000. We proudly handed over TCG ANADOLU, which would serve as our navy’s flagship, to our naval forces,” said the President. “TCG ANADOLU, on which unmanned aerial vehicles can perform landing and take-off, is thus the first-ever UCAV carrier in the world. We have therefore acquired a highly strategic warship that would enable us to defend much more firmly our rights in the Aegean, East Mediterranean and Black Sea. Yesterday, we added a new one to our moves in defense industry. We handed over the New Altay Tank to our Armed Forces for tests.”

“INVESTMENTS IN BATTERY TECHNOLOGIES HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO CHANGE TÜRKİYE’S GLOBAL STATUS”

Pointing out that the production of Türkiye’s electric automobile amounts to a visionary step taken foreseeing the upcoming revolution in the global automobile industry, President Erdoğan described Ankara’s goal as to make Türkiye a hub in Europe in charging and battery technologies along with electric vehicles.

Noting that Togg is the first step taken in line with this vision, President Erdoğan went onto say: “By proceeding to the mass production of this smart device of ours, we have actually sown the seeds of an innovative and sustainable future for our country in the automobile industry.”

President Erdoğan continued his remarks as follows: “Türkiye’s progress in green technologies is important not only in terms of environment but also in economic and strategic terms. Investments particularly in battery technologies have the potential to change Türkiye’s global status.”

“TODAY, WE ARE TAKING A GIANT STEP THAT WOULD HELP TÜRKİYE BECOME A POWERFUL ACTOR IN BATTERY TECHNOLOGIES”

Stressing that Türkiye aims to have a say in this area globally both by developing domestic technologies and by attracting international investors, President Erdoğan said: “Accordingly, we are today taking a giant step that would help Türkiye become a powerful actor in battery technologies. SIRO, established in cooperation with Farasis Energy for the production of the batteries of the Togg smart devices, will enable the development and production of cell technologies in our country.”

Highlighting that SIRO has already started the mass production of battery modules and packs at the Togg Technology Campus, President Erdoğan said that production by SIRO gained momentum with the mass production of Togg’s first T-10-X smart device in March.

Noting that the Togg Technology Campus will be an integrated center manufacturing battery modules and packs with high-nickel content once the facility, whose construction is being launched today, becomes operational, President Erdoğan said: “Türkiye will thus obtain cell development and production capability, enjoyed only by few countries in the world.”
