“We are determined to change the look of our cities through urban transformation”

 

Addressing the Earthquake Reality and Urban Transformation Forum, President Erdoğan said: “Never compromising our understanding of urbanization which prioritizes human being rather than profit, and starting with the quake zone, we are determined to change the look of all our cities through urban transformation.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the Earthquake Reality and Urban Transformation Forum in Istanbul.

Expressing his wish for the forum to lead to favorable developments, President Erdoğan offered his gratitude to the science people, experts, NGO representatives and members of the press who would contribute to the forum with their experiences, findings and proposals.

The discussions to be held and the reports to be prepared as part of the forum would enlighten the path ahead in Türkiye’s urban transformation efforts, said the President. “We will benefit from the forum discussions to the largest extent in our preparations for the earthquake law. Our aim is to build a legal infrastructure that would enable the process of urban transformation, our most important weapon against the earthquake reality that threatens our people and cities, to proceed in the most accurate, fastest and fairest manner.”

Noting that they build not only houses in the quake zone, President Erdoğan said: “With their commercial areas, squares, monuments of arts and culture, sports facilities and recreational areas, we are also building cities of the future by combining our civilization’s understanding of city planning with modern features. Never compromising our understanding of urbanization which prioritizes human being rather than profit, and starting with the quake zone, we are determined to change the look of all our cities through urban transformation.”
