“We are of the same opinion regarding the extension of the Black Sea Grain Corridor”
Delivering remarks to reporters on his way out of Hz. Ali Mosque, where he performed the Friday prayer, President Erdoğan said: “We are in preparation to host Mr. Putin in August. We are of the same opinion regarding the extension of the Black Sea Grain Corridor.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered remarks and answered reporters’ questions on his way out of at Hz. Ali Mosque in Istanbul, where he performed the Friday prayer.
As regards the grain corridor, President Erdoğan said: “We are in preparation to host Mr. Putin in August. We are of the same opinion regarding the extension of the Black Sea Grain Corridor.”
Reminding the letter UN Secretary-General António Guterres sent to Mr. Putin, President Erdoğan noted: “I hope that we will secure the extension of the grain corridor with this letter and our joint efforts with Russia.”
Answering a question about Türkiye’s relations with the European Union and any possible amendments regarding visas, President Erdoğan said: “We discussed all this with the leaders of the EU-member countries I met with in Vilnius, particularly with Charles Michel and Ursula von der Leyen. We told them that we, from now on, expect them to take positive steps regarding Türkiye, which has been kept waiting at the door for 52 years.”
“WE AS THE LEADERS WILL TAKE THE NECESSARY STEPS”
Asked about the relations with Greece, President Erdoğan stated: “Obviously, we are two neighboring countries. Our experiences in historical terms are known. We do not want this process to progress like this, either. Mr. Mitsotakis has just left behind elections, and so have we. We as the two leaders, who won the elections, want to take our steps in the positive direction. The most important topics I want them to address in particular are the problems about the Western Thrace and the issue concerning muftis. Our ambassadors will make preparations with face-to-face meetings. The Foreign Ministers will make another preparations. And then we as the leaders will come together and take the necessary steps.”
