Speaking at an opening ceremony in Konya, President Erdoğan said: “We endeavor to end Türkiye’s foreign dependency in energy.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of Karapınar Solar Power Plant and other newly-completed projects in Konya.
“WE ARE MEETING 10 PER CENT OF OUR TOTAL NEED WITH AKKUYU”
Noting that Türkiye experienced one of the biggest disasters of the century on February 6, President Erdoğan said that they mobilized the municipalities as well as the state’s all institutions upon receiving the reports of the earthquakes that were felt in Konya, too.
Underscoring that while removing the traces of the disaster, they continue to realize the vision projects which will make the nation’s dreams come true, President Erdoğan drew attention to the natural gas discovered in the Black Sea, and stressed: “We endeavor to end Türkiye’s foreign dependency in energy.”
“As of now, we are meeting the 10 per cent of our total need with the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant. Obviously, there will be the second, the third and the fourth units,” President Erdoğan added.

Drawing attention to the works carried out for the opening of new oil wells, President Erdoğan recalled that one of the 10 biggest discoveries made thus far on land was carried out by Türkiye last year, and said: “Our country’s daily production capacity, which approximated 40 thousand barrels 5-6 years ago, has increased by twofold and reached 80 thousand barrels. Now, I would like to share another good news with you. We have discovered an oil reserve with a daily production capacity of 100 thousand barrels in Cudi Gabar.”

“This oil reserve, which is 20 kilometers away from Cizre, is of high-quality. We will increase the daily production capacity of the oil we have discovered 2.6 thousand meters deep in the ground with the 100 wells we will open in the region. We have already started to ship the oil we have taken from the first well to refineries for refining. Undoubtedly, this oil reserve, which will meet the 10 per cent of our daily consumption all by itself, will be auspicious for our country and nation.”
“Our sole purpose is to maximize the contributions our discoveries and investments make to our country’s energy independence. Because, just like defense industry, energy independence is, too, an indispensable must for the true freedom of a country and nation,” the President further stated.
