“We have set a $2-billion trade goal with Albania”

Holding a joint press conference with Albanian PM Rama, President Erdoğan said: “With the agreements signed, we have further strengthened the contractual basis of our cooperation. We have increased our bilateral trade volume to some 1 billion dollars, and have set our new goal as 2 billion dollars.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Edi Rama of Albania held a joint press conference at the Presidential Complex following their bilateral meeting and the first meeting of the Türkiye-Albania High Level Cooperation Council.

“WE HAVE INCREASED OUR BILATERAL TRADE VOLUME TO SOME 1 BILLION DOLLARS”

Stating that with the agreements signed, they have further strengthened the contractual basis of the cooperation between the two countries, President Erdoğan said: “We have increased our bilateral trade volume to some 1 billion dollars, and have set our new goal as 2 billion dollars. I believe that with our private sector’s efforts, we will reach this figure in a short span of time. Türkiye, with its investments that approximate 3.5 billion dollars, is among the top five foreign investors in Albania. Over 600 Turkish companies contribute to the country’s economy by generating jobs for more than 15 thousand Albanian citizens. We will continue to work to increase our mutual investments and to further improve the ties between our business worlds.”

Underscoring that they will continue to stand with the Albanian people during their trying days as well as good ones, President Erdoğan stressed: “We know Mr. Prime Minister’s sensitivity about the fight against FETO and appreciate it. We will never allow this malicious network, which has tried every avenue and method to poison our relations, to succeed. We see that Albanian officials are aware of this fact as well. We will maintain our fight against this group within the framework of mutual understanding. We thank Mr. Prime Minister for the contributions he has made to the activities of the Turkish Maarif Foundation, which currently provides education services for two thousand students.”

“THE SOLIDARITY ALBANIA SHOWS WITH THE OPPRESSED PALESTINIAN PEOPLE IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE”

Further noting that Türkiye and Albania are two NATO allies that contribute to the preservation of peace and stability in the Balkans, President Erdoğan pointed out that Türkiye will increasingly maintain its dialogue with Albania concerning the Balkans, and added: “During our meetings, we discussed the Israel’s oppression on the occupied Palestinian territories, Gaza in particular. The international community’s responsibilities for putting an end to Israel’s oppression continuing for over four months and ensuring a safe and prosperous future for our Palestinian brothers and sisters are obvious. The ongoing processes both at the International Court of Justice and the United Nations have laid bare our rightful stance on this issue. Albania, with its attitude during the vote at the United Nations General Assembly in December, stood at the right side of history. The solidarity Albania shows with the oppressed Palestinian people, especially during this period, is of utmost importance and valuable. We will continue to hold talks with my friend Mr. Rama regarding the initiatives that will be launched in the upcoming period.”
