“We will be taking in March the first step to build 200 thousand houses in the 11 provinces”

 

Delivering remarks during a visit to the earthquake-hit Kahramanmaraş, President Erdoğan said: “We are about to take concrete steps regarding permanent houses. We will break ground and begin building 45,067 houses in Kahramanmaraş in March. We will be taking in March the first step to build 200 thousand houses in the 11 provinces.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli were briefed on the continuing search and rescue, as well as relief efforts in the earthquake-hit Kahramanmaraş.

Speaking to reporters in Kahramanmaraş, President Erdoğan pointed out that 10 thousand container houses have already been erected and that as many as 200 thousand containers can be set up across the areas affected by the quake if need be.

President Erdoğan said: “We are about to take concrete steps regarding permanent houses. We will break ground and begin building 45,067 houses in Kahramanmaraş in March. We will be taking in March the first step to build 200 thousand houses in the 11 provinces. We will increase this number to the necessary level in the following months in the entire earthquake zone, including Kahramanmaraş. I believe that we will achieve these efforts of revival and construction within a year, as has been in previous earthquakes.”  

MHP Chairman Bahçeli, for his part, drew attention to the efforts exerted by the government of the Republic of Türkiye to heal the wounds inflicted by the earthquake as soon as possible, and voiced full solidarity with the President.
