“We will continue construction activities until we provide all of our people with safe housing”

 

Speaking in the quake-hit Samandağ district of Hatay, President Erdoğan said: “We will continue construction and development activities until we provide all of our people with solid, safe and peaceful housing. We will also take the necessary steps at the earliest opportunity to make sure that the difficulties we have experienced in the past in this regard do not repeat themselves ever again.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli visited the quake-hit Samandağ district of Hatay.

Delivering remarks at a meeting with mukhtars and opinion leaders at Samandağ Disaster Coordination Center, President Erdoğan stated that the earthquake, felt over a vast area, caused the most destruction and losses in Hatay.

Noting that nearly 650 thousand residences were needed to be rebuilt in the area hit by earthquakes, President Erdoğan said: “We are moving forward with a plan to finish the construction of 244 thousand houses and 75 thousand village houses, which are urgently needed, within a year.”

“17,331 residences will be built in Samandağ. We will continue construction and development activities until we provide all of our people with solid, safe and peaceful housing. We will also take the necessary steps at the earliest opportunity to make sure that the difficulties we have experienced in the past in this regard do not repeat themselves ever again.”

“The importance of a powerful state and a nation that can unite in joy and sorrow is better understood during such times. Therefore we should uphold more firmly the umbrella of security, peace and prosperity offered to us by the Republic of Türkiye, whose first century we have left behind. Despite all the disasters and attacks we have experienced, we have countless reasons to look to our future with hope,” President Erdoğan said.

“We are determined to make the new century of our Republic the Century of Türkiye by pursuing our dreams, building our vision and implementing our programs. This will be the greatest legacy we will leave to the next generations,” President Erdoğan underlined.
