“We will keep the May 19 spirit alive”

Speaking at an event at Istanbul Modern, President Erdoğan said: “May 19, which is the day of our youth, is a symbol of the determination of our beloved nation, which we are honored to be a member of, to resist the invasion attempts, and the strongest sign of our love of freedom. We will continue to keep the spirit of May 19, which saved our homeland from occupation despite all the hardships and impossibilities, alive and pass it on to future generations.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at an event at Istanbul Modern.

“May the new building of Istanbul Modern be auspicious to Istanbul and to all art-enthusiasts.” President Erdoğan said. “I would like to begin my remarks by congratulating our young people here and all our nation on May 19th Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. I remember with grace all the members of our victorious army, especially Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who crowned our national struggle, which started in Samsun exactly 104 years ago, with victory.”

“WE BEGIN BUILDING THE CENTURY OF TÜRKİYE ON THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF OUR REPUBLIC”

“I commemorate with respect and gratitude all the hidden heroes of the national struggle, men and women, young and old,” President Erdoğan said. “I wish Allah’s mercy on all our martyrs and veterans who put their lives on the line for the protection of the integrity of our country and the unity of our nation, for our flag to fly proudly, for our adhans to always echo in our skies, and for our independence and future.”

“May 19, which is the day of our youth, is a symbol of the determination of our beloved nation, which we are honored to be a member of, to resist the invasion attempts and the strongest sign of our love of freedom,” President Erdoğan said. “This date is a turning point when freedom against captivity and hope against despair began to rise from across Anatolia. We will continue to keep the spirit of May 19, which saved our homeland from occupation despite all the hardships and impossibilities, alive and pass it on to future generations.”

Emphasizing that Ghazi Mustafa Kemal crowned the torch of independence, which he lit on May 19, with the proclamation of the Republic on October 29, 1923, after more than four years of arduous struggle, President Erdoğan said: “Inshallah, we are beginning to build the Century of Türkiye on the 100th anniversary of our Republic. We want to leave our children, whom we see as the guarantee of our future, a great and powerful Türkiye that they can proudly live in.”
