President and Justice and Development Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the party’s group meeting at the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT)
“The GNAT, which we see as a place where the national will manifests itself, symbolizes the struggle of independence and future we wage on behalf of our country. We have upheld the principle of the superiority of the national will, represented by the National Assembly, under all circumstances,” President Erdoğan said.
President Erdoğan stated: “When they trampled on the Constitution and the bylaws of the National Assembly in 2007 in order to hinder us from electing the President, we sought the solution here, not elsewhere. Whenever we set out to improve our Constitution and laws with steps to consolidate our democracy as well as our rights and freedoms and our development, we sought the solution here, not elsewhere. Even when FETO-member traitors attempted to silence the voice of the Assembly and the national will it represents with their bombs, we maintained the resistance and sought the solution here.”
“Inshallah, we will build the Century of Türkiye, as well, together with our Assembly. We will also realize the Century of Türkiye together with the National Assembly, which worked determinedly to fulfill its duty of representing the national will despite coups and the tutelage as well as many other shortcomings that blocked the system in the first century of the Republic. Having clearly defined the relations between the legislative, executive and legislative branches as well as their respective duties and powers with the inauguration of our new system of government, we have already built the infrastructure to enable the best functioning of this process,” pointed out the President. “Following the elections, we also hope to carry out, together with the National Assembly, the revisions that would further advance the system in light of the experiences from the first period of the new system of government. Behind this hope lie efforts and gains spanning 20 years.”
“WE HAVE NEVER GIVEN UP ON OUR GOALS FOR 2023”
Noting that they have been able to keep all the promises they made to the nation when they came to power 20 years ago, President Erdoğan said: “We have never given up on, deviated from or backtracked on our goals for 2023 which we introduced to our nation 12-13 years ago despite all the crises in the world and all the troubles our country experienced. While ending the first century of our Republic, we have pretty much achieved our 2023 goals despite all the barriers raised in our way, the traps set and the attacks we have come under.”
President Erdoğan continued his remarks as follows: “With Allah’s help and our nation’s support, we have overcome many incidents that would have caused grave destruction, catastrophes and disasters if they had befallen any other country or had taken place in a different era of our country. That is so because as our Republic gets on in years, our Republic’s acumen and sagacity have grown stronger and thus old scenarios and plots have started to become unsuccessful.”
