President Erdoğan: One cannot achieve freedom in economic or political terms without achieving technological independence

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at an award ceremony in Kocaeli.

“One cannot achieve freedom in economic or political terms without achieving technological independence or building a national industry,” President Erdoğan underscored, and said: “Just as foreign dependency in defense causes grave problems, foreign dependency in technology and production poses similar risks as well. The developments that have taken place during the coronavirus pandemic have dramatically laid bare this fact. Even the richest and the most prosperous countries have failed to provide masks to their healthcare workers or citizens. They have had difficulty in offering the fundamental healthcare services. Due to the crises in the global supply chain, production has come to a halt in many places. We all remember quite well the scenes at hospitals, supermarkets, or industry sites.”

“WE ACHIEVED 7.3 PER CENT GROWTH YEAR IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF THIS YEAR”

Underscoring that the 11 per cent growth rate achieved last year had placed Türkiye to 1st rank among G20 countries, President Erdoğan noted: “We achieved 7.3 per cent growth year in the first quarter of this year. While the employment has been falling across the world, we have reached nearly 31 million, the highest number of our history. We break records in exportation each month. Our July exports have reached 18.5 billion dollars, increasing 13.5 per cent year-on-year.”

“TÜRKİYE’S STAR CONTINUES TO INCREASINGLY SHINE”

Recalling his visit to Sochi the previous day, President Erdoğan said: “With its industry, production capacity, qualified labor force, strategic location that connects three continents, and its healthcare and transportation infrastructure, our country’s star continues to increasingly shine. Amid the discussions of a global-scale food and energy crisis, thanks be to Allah, we are quite comfortable. With our balanced policy that prioritize cooperation, peace and diplomacy, we have managed to save our country from the adverse effects of the Russia-Ukraine war. We have reaffirmed Türkiye’s key role in resolving global crises by ensuring the opening of a grain corridor.”
