“The Century of Türkiye will also be the century of our cities”

 

Addressing citizens in the Sultanbeyli district of Istanbul, President Erdoğan said: “We are preparing our country for a new era with the Century of Türkiye. The Century of Türkiye will also be the century of our cities with the historic steps we will take in municipal services.”

President and Justice and Development (AK) Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed citizens at the party’s rally in the Sultanbeyli district of Istanbul.

Noting that his bonds of affection with Sultanbeyli are both very deep and go back a long way, President Erdoğan said: “Sultanbeyli was one of the places that suffered the severest consequences of unplanned urbanization in Istanbul. Our citizens who had come here from every corner of Anatolia to build a new life had been left unprotected. This district had ended up symbolizing the usurpation of rights and freedoms in our country. However, Sultanbeyli, where people used to be harassed just because of their outfits, faiths and traditions, has overcome all these incidents with its dignified stance.”

Pointing out that today Sultanbeyli distinguishes itself among Istanbul’s districts with its rising star, President Erdoğan said: “The local municipality further beautifies the district every passing day with the projects and services it delivers.”

Likening his own personal story to that of Sultanbeyli, President Erdoğan said: “Countless traps were set in our way just because we didn’t submit to putschists and tutelage supporters who are the extensions of imperialists. We were subjected to discrimination just because we said ‘one minute’ and raised objections to the oppression inflicted upon innocent people. We came under embargoes just because we said ‘the World is bigger than five’ and objected to the crookedness in the global order and security structure. We were tested with numerous sufferings just because we didn’t give into those unleashing the PKK, FETO and DAESH terrorist organizations on us. We were blacklisted just because we objected to the massacre in Gaza at the highest level and provided every sort of aid to the oppressed.”

Stating that they have overcome all these issues with the strength they draw from first Allah and then Sultanbeyli, President Erdoğan added: “Now, we are preparing our country for a new era with the Century of Türkiye. The Century of Türkiye will also be the century of our cities with the historic steps we will take in municipal services.”
