“The length of the rail system networks completed in Istanbul has increased to 338.5 kilometers”

 

Speaking at the opening ceremony of Istanbul Airport Metro’s Kağıthane-Gayrettepe stage, President Erdoğan drew attention to the uninterrupted subway transportation between Istanbul Airport and Gayrettepe, and said: “With this stage’s entry into service, the length of the rail system networks completed in Istanbul has increased to 338.5 kilometers.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the Opening Ceremony of Istanbul Airport Metro’s Kağıthane-Gayrettepe stage.

Expressing his pleasure over implementing a new project that would alleviate the increasingly aggravating traffic problem of the citizens in Istanbul, President Erdoğan said: “As you know, we inaugurated last year the Istanbul Airport-Kağıthane metro, putting this important project at the service of our citizens. And today, we have come together for the commissioning of the Kağıthane-Gayrettepe line linking this metro to Gayrettepe. We therefore enable uninterrupted metro transportation between Istanbul Airport and Gayrettepe.”  

Noting that the Kağıthane-Gayrettepe stage, 37.5 kilometers long, will ease Istanbulites’ daily lives, President Erdoğan stated: “This line, covering nine stations and reaching 120 km/h, can accommodate 600 thousand passengers daily. With the inauguration of the line, the travel time between Gayrettepe and Istanbul Airport will decrease to 30 minutes, Göktürk and Mahmutbey to 38 minutes, Tekstilkent and Istanbul Airport to 45 minutes, Taksim and Istanbul Airport to 41 minutes, Taksim and Göktürk to 26 minutes, and 4. Levent and Istanbul Airport to 35 minutes. With this line’s entry into service, the length of the rail system networks completed in Istanbul has increased to 338.5 kilometers.”
