“The Republic of Türkiye is a venerable treasure”

Addressing the nation on the 100th anniversary of the Republic, President Erdoğan said: “The Republic of Türkiye is not, and never has been, a rootless, historyless, ad hoc, and a newborn state. The Republic of Türkiye is a venerable treasure that has been passed from hand to hand, from heart to heart and from generation to generation for thousands of years. We are celebrating the 100th anniversary of our Republic with the pride of having such a strong, rich and deep-rooted background as a nation.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the nation on 100th anniversary of the Republic.

Congratulating citizens living in Türkiye and abroad on October 29th Republic Day, President Erdoğan highlighted the Turkish nation’s pride and excitement and  said that the Republic, which was proclaimed on October 29th, 1923, has completed its first century and set sail for its second century, which they call the Century of Türkiye.

Wishing that the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic, which is celebrated with glory, honor and joy, would be auspicious for the country and the nation, President Erdoğan prayed for Allah’s mercy to the glorious martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the defense of our blessed homeland for a thousand years.

“I commemorate with gratitude all our veterans, especially Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of our Republic, the victorious commander of our War of Independence, and all the heroic members of our Parliament and our army. I wish success to our security forces who selflessly serve inside and outside our borders for the perpetuity of our homeland. I remember with grace everyone who has contributed to the development of Türkiye since the proclamation of our Republic, and I pray our Lord bless them all,” President Erdoğan said.

“THE REPUBLIC OF TÜRKİYE CONTINUES TO DAZZLE WITH ITS SPLENDOR”

“The Republic of Türkiye, which has reached its 100th anniversary today, continues to dazzle with its splendor, like a mighty plane tree with deep roots,” President Erdoğan said. “Our Republic, which is a new link in our thousands of years of state tradition, is not the first but the last state we have established on these lands. In the glorious history of our nation, we have many states that have shaped the world, guided humanity and pioneered civilizations. We see the milestones of our journey stretching from Asia to Europe, leaving its mark in three continents and seven climes, first with the Seljuks in Anatolia and then with the Ottomans, in the 16 stars on our presidential seal. These states, all of which are the arches of the bridge we have built from the past to the future, are the pioneers and heralds of our Republic. The Republic is not a break or interruption in this honorable journey, on the contrary, it is a new sprout.”

“The Republic of Türkiye is not, and never has been, a rootless, historyless, ad hoc, and a newborn state. The Republic of Türkiye is a venerable treasure that has been passed from hand to hand, from heart to heart and from generation to generation for thousands of years,” President Erdoğan said.

“WE NOT ONLY TAKE LESSONS FROM THE PAST, BUT ALSO DRAW STRENGTH AND INSPIRATION FROM IT”

“We celebrate the 100th anniversary of our Republic with the pride of having such a strong, rich and deep-rooted background as a nation,” President Erdoğan said, noting that they were not renouncing their past; on the contrary, they were embracing every phase of it.

“We not only take lessons from the past, we also draw strength and inspiration from it. Our Republic, whose 100th anniversary we celebrate today, is both a source of pride and inspiration for us,” President Erdoğan said.

“Mustafa Kemal Atatürk says the following about the Republic he founded; ‘The Republic was not gained without any price. In order to achieve it, we shed our red blood everywhere.’ Yes, just as Ghazi says, the Republic was proclaimed and built on the blood, lives and sacrifices of thousands of sons and daughters of our homeland. Our nation, who did not consent to captivity, degradation and impositions, crowned the national struggle they started against the invaders who targeted their independence and future with victory, and then established the Republic on October 29, 1923. The purpose of the establishment of the Republic was to be, in the words of its founder, ‘the protector of the unprotected’,” President Erdoğan said.

Stating that the Republic gained this characteristic in the fullest sense during their administration, President Erdoğan said: “Today, the Republic of Türkiye is a country that is the ‘protector of the unprotected’ in its region and in the world, just as Ghazi desired. From the Balkans to the Caucasus, from Karabakh to Africa, from Turkestan to Palestine, wherever there is an oppressed, victimized and needy person, it is Türkiye that rushes to help, takes them by the hand, lifts them up, and solves their problems. We have displayed this attitude before in Korea, Cyprus, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen, and most recently in Karabakh. Today, we show the same stance for Palestine and Gaza, about which Ghazi said ‘no one can lay a hand on’, and we are trying to help the people of Gaza. The Great Palestine Rally, which took place yesterday with the participation of over 1.5 million people, was a part of this effort. Even though some people who have no sense of history, who do not know Ghazi Mustafa Kemal's struggle, who do not understand why the Republic was founded may seek different intentions, we did not only demonstrate our solidarity with Palestine yesterday. With this rally, we once again announced to the whole world our determination to protect our independence and future, which we have extended to the whole of our kindred geography. With that magnificent solidarity at Atatürk Airport, we also honored the spirit of Ghazi Mustafa Kemal on the 100th anniversary of our Republic. Inshallah, we will continue to be the ‘protector of the unprotected’ without any discrimination in the future.”
