“We have made the elimination of violence against women our basic policy”
Addressing an event on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, President Erdoğan said: “As the state, we have made the elimination of violence against women our basic policy. Accordingly, we founded the Ministry of Family and Social Services in 2011. Closely following, frankly supporting and, when necessary, getting personally involved in the works of the Ministry, we have demonstrated that we stand with women.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at an event held in Istanbul on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
President Erdoğan noted that numerous events are organized in Türkiye every November 25, which was declared as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women by the United Nations 24 years ago.
Describing their goal as to raise awareness about violence against women, President Erdoğan said: “Thank Allah, the level Türkiye has reached on this issue cannot even be compared with the past. Despite the existence of those who seek to cast a shadow over this success by means of targeted campaigns conducted via media and social media that are getting more and more widespread, our sisters are well aware of this truth.”

Stressing that Türkiye has made the elimination of violence against women a basic state policy, President Erdoğan said: “Accordingly, we founded the Ministry of Family and Social Services in 2011. Closely following, frankly supporting and, when necessary, getting personally involved in the works of the Ministry, we have demonstrated that we stand with women.”
Stressing that they see the elimination of violence against women as an inseparable part of their endeavors to glorify and strengthen families, President Erdoğan described their goal as to eliminate violence against women and safeguard their rights through the protection of families.
