“We will further beautify Istanbul”

 

Speaking at the opening ceremony of Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme New Generation Transportation System, President Erdoğan said: “With the new projects we will implement in terms of environment and urbanization, urban transformation in particular, we will not only make Istanbul resistant to earthquakes, but further beautify it.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the opening ceremony of Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme New Generation Transportation System in Istanbul.

Stating that with this project, they are providing Istanbul with not just a rail system but an exceptionally modern transportation project with means for tourism, sports, cycling and other areas, President Erdoğan noted that with the entry into service of this project, the total length of the completed rail system in Istanbul has become 340 kilometers.

Pointing out that they plan to increase the total length of the rail systems to 650 kilometers within five years, President Erdoğan said that they aim to achieve 1,004 kilometers after that, and continued as follows: “In the similar vein, with the new projects we will implement in terms of environment and urbanization, urban transformation in particular, we will not only make Istanbul resistant to earthquakes, but inshallah further beautify it. We will renew the building stock of Istanbul before the earthquake for which scientists advise us to prepare without wasting anytime.”
