President Erdoğan spoke at the Şanlıurfa Earthquake Housing Draw and Delivery Ceremony
Speaking at the Key Handover Ceremony of Post-Quake Houses in Şanlıurfa, President Erdoğan said: “We have worked to revive the earthquake zone without distinction. We have focused on healing the wounds of the quake victims regardless of their political views, dispositions or origins.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the Key Handover Ceremony of Post-Quake Houses in Şanlıurfa.
President Erdoğan said: “We are visiting the quake zone again on the first anniversary of the February 6 earthquakes, strengthening our solidarity with quake victims. On the occasion of the visit, we are drawing lots for the newly-built post-disaster houses and handing over them to their rightful owners.”

President Erdoğan continued as follows: “We never take our eyes off the quake zone no matter what. Our ministers constantly update us on the works underway in the quake zone during cabinet meetings. Giving necessary instructions to our ministers, we ensure that the works aimed at reviving and rehabilitating the quake-hit cities continue uninterruptedly and smoothly. Even though the disaster we endured on February 6 was truly massive, we have successfully maintained the process thus far. In the face of problems arising now and then, we take necessary measures and solve them before they get inextricable. Joining forces as the people and the state, we overcome the disaster of the century, which claimed over 53,000 lives, with the solidarity of the century. Today’s key handover ceremony of post-quake houses is an embodiment of our state’s will to heal the wounds caused by the earthquakes. During today’s ceremony, we are drawing lots for a combined 1,314 post-quake houses in Şanlıurfa, 1,208 of them in the center of the province and districts and 106 in the countryside. I hope the post-quake houses may be auspicious for their rightful owners.”
Warning against using traumatic issues like earthquakes as fodder for daily discussions, President Erdoğan stressed: “We have worked to revive the earthquake zone without distinction. We have focused on healing the wounds of the quake victims regardless of their political views, dispositions or origins. Mobilizing the means of our state, we have worked to fulfill the needs of our citizens. You know well how sincerely and tirelessly we have worked in Şanlıurfa. Our brothers and sisters living in other cities are also witness to our efforts.”
