’We will not allow our children, generations to be destroyed by drugs,’

Turkish police seized some 566 kilograms (1,247 pounds) of heroin, the interior minister announced on Thursday.

The illicit drug was seized in the Yuksekova district of the southeastern Hakkari province, Suleyman Soylu said. 

"We did not and will not allow our children and generations to be destroyed by drugs," he said, congratulating police teams over their successful operation.

Meanwhile, with the help of a sniffer dog, local gendarmerie teams in the Posof district of the northeastern Ardahan province found cannabis plants at a vacant land.

At least 6,322 cannabis were destroyed by burning them in coordination with Agriculture and Forestry Directorate officials.
